BC Rich Gunslinger History

The Assassin was introduced in 1986. It was a double cutaway that was a departure from the distinctly shaped models that B.C. Rich was known for up until that time. As early as 1985 double cutaways from B.C. Rich began appearing. In 1986, the progressive development continued with various new headstocks, pickup configurations, controls and finishes.

The ASM model was one of those double cutaways, but was introduced much later. There was an ASM 1 and ASM 2, with slightly different shapes and point shapes, but the more pointed and sleeker model eventually settled in as the standard ASM shape. The Outlaw originally had holes drilled in the upper bout, but later models were more traditional looking - mostly bolt on necks like most of the double cutaway B.C. Rich instruments. In true B.C. Rich form, there were several other similar double cutaway guitars like the MB1, ST and later the Rave, just to name a few.

Some of the finest players have played either the Assassin or one of its brothers as their main guitar.
